Final Journal!
My favorite Writing Project was Writing Project 3. I loved this project because it was free range and I could do basically anything I wanted to in regards to my translation. Due to the amount of free range I had, I was able to translate a genre that I enjoyed, meaning I had much more fun with the project and its material.
My least favorite Writing Project was Writing Project 2. The ethnography was honestly a very intimidating project, and although everyone in the class was able to successfully complete it, I still had trouble. I found myself confused for a good majority of the project because I was unsure of how to move forward with the project. Luckily, after in class instruction, I was able to more clearly understand what to do. This project was my least favorite not because it was too difficult or confusing, but only because I have bad memories of my troubles I had during the creation of the project.
My top three takeaways from this class are:
1) When creating a first draft, try not to make it perfect. Leave room for revision and only put all of your thoughts into the paper.
2) Writing can be fun too! It only depends on how much free range you have with the project and what the material in the project is.
3) I really enjoyed the project builder structure. The project builders were extremely helpful in constructing my final essay, and they were great stepping stones to the final project.
One possible thing to improve is the abstract ideas. Some of the ideas are very difficult to grasp and maybe there is a better way to explain these topics, such as through videos or other sources. I feel like some students in the class were confused about abstract ideas such as the true definition of genre, so maybe having different methods of explaining it and its definition would help.
